Image Soft-proofing via your HP printer profile
The best way to preview your images on screen of how they will print is to use a preview function in Photoshop under the View menu> Proof Set up. this is known as soft-proofing.
What you'll need to do is go to View>Proof Set up> custom. Scroll down to the correct HP profile that you want to print through for a specific media. Choose your rendering intent either perceptual or relative for photographic printing. Leave the Use Black Point Compensation checked. Similar to Color Settings , save this personalized setting with a logical name so that it will become available as a drop down list preset. This allows you to preview different rendering intents, profiles which gives a good idea of what the image would look like when printed on these settings. This is assuming of course that your monitor is correctly calibrated and profiled. When the monitor is well calibrated the screen preview through soft proofing becomes invaluable for simulating the actual print. It can be surprisingly close. It also allows you to change the images on the fly with the soft proofing on while you edit.
